Pillars and carving at the Alhambra, Granada.

It was 1996 before we visited Spain, and went to the Alhambra. Best was the visit there in the evening, when it was much quieter. The carved patterns are as fascinating as the wave patterns on the sand-dunes in the picture from last year. Hundreds of years ago, the Moors must have had more than an inkling of Chaos theory, making these incredibly complex patterns from the simplest of elements. And then the sun shines on the complexity and leaves a simple and always pleasant effect.
